Schools face the challenge of educating an increasingly diverse and complex student population. Underachievement is a growing concern. The responsibility for learning how to learn must shift from the teacher to the student. This is accomplished by using the Learning Channel Preference Checklist (LCPC). With this instrument students can identify their learning style and receive practical study suggestions. They begin to learn more about themselves and they develop intrapersonal intelligence. Research consistently demonstrates a positive relationship between studying via learning preference and academic achievement. The single most valuable and cost-effective tool we can provide for students in grades 5 through college is to test their learning styles. Understanding learning style is a step towards independence…the goal of education.
